The Auryn Miryashi project is an initiative which intends to help underprivileged children in Sri Lanka with funds raised from the writer’s book sales. Poverty is an ongoing challenge in Sri Lanka that many rural families in the country currently face. Many children in rural areas drop out of school before they complete their primary education and never see a book again in their life. In an ideal world every child will have access to primary education including basic reading and writing skills. Unfortunately we are far from that ideal world.
The initiative will aim to lead a series of projects in the island encouraging reading and writing among children in the country. We also aim to work with schools, teachers and students to make children incorporate books as a bigger part of their life. All the profit from the author’s book sales will be contributed towards the project..
